TAP Tax Reimbursement Program

The new TAP Tax Reimbursement Program was negotiated by HUCTW as part of our recent contract negotiations with Harvard in order to help our members recoup a significant portion of the taxes applied to non job-related, graduate-level classes taken using Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). Members who took two or more such classes during the 2021 calendar year may have had between $1,000 – $12,000 in taxes withheld from their paychecks due to the University’s new TAP Tax Policy.

Eligibility for the first application cycle: If you took one or more non-job-related graduate courses at Harvard during the the summer 2021 and/or fall 2021 semesters, this program will provide partial reimbursement for any taxes that Harvard withheld from your paychecks related to those classes. Awards will be based on each applicant’s tax costs and the total number of applications we receive.

  • Award Delivery: All members with eligible expenses who apply by the deadline will receive awards. We will aim to deposit awards in the December 17 paycheck.

TAP Tax Reimbursement Application

Fill out the following application to apply for partial reimbursement of your TAP tax costs from the summer 2021 semester and/or the fall 2021 semester. You may apply for reimbursement from one of these semesters or both. If you encounter any problems with the application, please let us know right away.

Deadline: Friday, December 3

  • You must upload one paystub for each semester for which you are applying for reimbursement to our secure server or your application will not be processed.

    * If you are applying for TAP tax reimbursement for the SUMMER 2021 semester, please upload your 9/10/2021 paystub from PeopleSoft.

    * If you are applying for TAP tax reimbursement for the FALL 2021 semester, please upload your 11/19/2021 paystub from PeopleSoft.

    You can download a paystub by navigating to the "Paychecks" menu in PeopleSoft. Click on the relevant "Check Date" that you need in order to open it, and then click the download icon. You may need to unblock pop-ups to do this.
