The 2022 Election for Regional Negotiating Team Representatives took March 8 – 9, 2022. There were four contested races: (1) in the FAS Arts Region, (2) in the FAS Sciences Region, (3) in the Medical Region, and (4) in the Professional Region of the campus. Overtime: Cash or Comp Time?


If you’ve worked overtime before, you probably know that overtime pay is calculated differently depending on whether the total number of hours you work in a week is under or over 40 hours. What you might not know is that any overtime hours you work up to 40 hours in a week can either be paid to you as cash or as time off ("comp time"). You can’t be required to take the pay as comp time -- that choice always rests with you -- and this is laid out in the HUCTW contract. March 31, 2022 is an important deadline for three reimbursement programs open to HUCTW members: (1) Healthcare Copay Reimbursement, which helps HUCTW members with their annual medical copayment costs if they reach above certain amounts (2) Childcare & Healthcare FSA Reimbursements, which allows staff to set aside money from their paychecks pre-tax in order to pay for childcare expenses or healthcare expenses. (3) Fitness Reimbursement, where our healthcare insurers (HUGHP and BCBSMA) will reimburse members for up to $150 in qualifying fitness and weight loss expeneses.…

HUCTW held its annual election from December 14 through December 17, 2021. There were three contested races for regional spots on HUCTW's Executive Board (the Union's governing body) and three contested races for Local Union Representatives. For each contested race, every member who was eligible to vote in that race was emailed a unique access link to an electronic ballot. HUCTW negotiators are happy to announce that Harvard and HUCTW have reached a tentative agreement on a one-year contract, which will run from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022.  Brief highlights of the agreement are outlined below and you can read a full Detailed Summary of the Tentative Agreement on our website. Negotiations for a new Agreement began in May 2021 and they were incredibly challenging amid the pandemic. The HUCTW Childcare Fellowship need-based fund that helps HUCTW members with the costs of childcare incurred during the calendar year.
